Consider voting yes for Zero

Increase Bond

Dear Editor:

As Principal of Gladwin Intermediate School, I have completely enjoyed my job. Being able to work with wonderful students and parents and a great staff have made my job enjoyable for nearly 17 years. Gladwin Community Schools are currently seeking a Zero Increase Bond in the spring primary election. The passing of this bond will allow us to update most of the heating and cooling systems in our building. The air handling system in the central portion of our building which includes the gym, the library, School Social Workers room, bathrooms, and the teachers’ lounge was installed with the original construction of the building. The computer lab was an addition to the building in the late 1980’s and the heating and cooling system is original with that addition too. The efficiency of these units are poor and the cost of running them is high. The boilers that heat the remainder of the school were replaced prior to the last remodeling in 2004. These boilers are no longer efficient. The money saved by replacing the old inefficient heating and cooling systems with new high efficiency units will benefit our students by being able to put that money toward the improvement of instruction and instructional materials. The comfort of being in a classroom that is heated and cooled efficiently and correctly will allow our students to concentrate on their lessons which is priceless. Please get out and vote at your polls.

Gladwin Pride,

Mr. Joe Cote

Principal

Gladwin Intermediate School
