Just a thought

To the Editor:

I don’t care if Trump gets impeached, it doesn’t make any difference to me. I am happy to see that those lying weasels that we call Senators will have to work six days a week during his trial. Boo hoo for those poor Senators that are so overworked.

If you think like I do, you might consider voting them out of office. Just a thought.

Thank you to the community

To the Editor:

I would like to thank members of Gladwin Youth Soccer, Gladwin Little League, Gladwin Youth Football and the Adult Softball Leagues that have been active volunteers at the Gladwin County Sports Complex over the past 16 years. In 2003 a small group of citizens made the decision to build the Sports Complex and solve the lack of facilities for our local youth. At the time no youth soccer fields or football field existed. The Little League was being required to move and the adult fields had been removed.

I have served as the Volunteer Chairperson of the Gladwin County Sports Complex since the beginning in 2003. The Complex was dedicated May 8, 2004, after many citizens, businesses, foundations, and government organizations came together to solve a problem.

The generosity of local support cannot be overstated. I have decided to retire as chairperson and would like to thank several people that have worked hard to make our Sports Complex a great facility for youth. When we started, we had no experience in maintaining a 55-acre complex. Thank you to Dan Pahl and Tim Gallagher for your years of mowing and maintenance of the complex. Sue Foster has served as Treasurer and concession stand operator, Great Job Sue. Also, thanks to Judy Proffitt and Bonnie Goodwin for administration assistance. Board members from the groups provide ideas for improvement and direction. Thanks for Volunteering! Florence and Gary DeShano for master gardening flower beds, building advice and support. Steve Fennell who has kept the irrigation system working and maintained the plumbing. Thanks Steve. Also, all the organizations, clubs, groups, churches, and volunteers that built the concession stand, moved and installed the playground equipment, planted trees, donated flags, donated money, and helped in anyway to provide our community with this great complex. A huge thank you to you all.

In 2020, a new Board will be formed from the four sports groups and a new chairperson elected. I wish everyone success and continued improvements to the complex.

Parents encourage your children to participate in a sport of their choice. Enjoy the sport and cherish this time with our youth. VOLUNTEER! Your time is appreciated and needed to build a great community.

Group leaders please attend Complex Meeting February 18, Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the Rivertown Inn, located in front of the Sports Complex. Election of new Complex Board Members to be determined.

Welcome to

To the Editor:

I would like to take this opportunity to achknowledge our new Gladwin City Administrator, Chris Shannon.

He stopped into my business a few months back and introduced himself. It was a total pleasure to speak to him. We discussed some concerns as well as the many new and exciting things happening in our community.

I think it’s extraordinary to have well versed young men in the administrator position. Chris has a great personality and would be more than happy to discuss any ideas anyone would have. He is a breath of fresh air! Welcome to Gladwin Chris!
