Travel back in time with me To the Editor: Life is so different now than when I was growing up. We lived in a house in the country, south of Beaverton and north of Coleman. We had 160 acres, a lot of which was trees. No modern conveniences like we have today. Our indoor plumbing was nonexistent.

Electric school buses are on the road in Michigan

MICHIGAN These buses are one of the benefits offered through the Biden Administration’s Infrastructure bill passed last year through congress into law. Is this a good thing? Should our tax dollars be used to help schools convert to electric buses? Those are good questions and ones worth exploring.

Distribution Day volunteers

To the Editor: It has been said, “The greatness of a community is most accurately measured by the compassionate actions of its members.” Well, this community, called Gladwin County, has compassion in abundance!

Donation thank yous

Each year, as Christmas Kindness catapults to its Distribution Day, our volunteers keep a constant vigil of items still needed. For example, we knew we were really low on warm socks as early as October, so we put the word out to our Gladwin, Beaverton, Rhodes, and Alger communities.
