Often people think of the resurrection of Jesus like a resuscitation of his body. They think of it as similar to when Jesus brought Lazarus back to life after four days in the tomb. People immediately recognized Lazarus, unwrapped his burial clothing, and he was the same old Lazarus.

In my studies of Gladwin County history, I have encountered many interesting people. Many I have met in person, and have enjoyed hearing their stories. Some I have met only in what they left behind. One very interesting person of that second category is a young man named William McKenna.

This is a photo of Ralph Robbins in his store – probably located in what would now be the west half of Ward’s Gift Shop (the east half was McClary’s International Harvester dealership). Ralph was the son of Enoch Robbins and the half brother of Minnie (Robbins) Ferrell of Grout Township.
