Virginia L. Whitehead, 88, of Gladwin, MI passed away at Mid Michigan Health in Midland, MI on Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2015. She was born in Detroit, MI on Dec. 25, 1926, the daughter of Oscar and Catherine (Busch) Edwards.
On May 28, 1972, she was united in marriage to the love of her life, John Whitehead in Inkster, MI and celebrated 43 wonderful years together. She had lived in Gladwin County for the last 35 years, previously residing in Mt. Clemens, MI and she was employed as a Registered Nurse, working at Tolfree Hospital in West Branch, MI, retiring in 1992. She was a member of F.O.E. Gladwin Aerie 3292 Auxiliary.
She leaves her loving husband, John Whitehead of Gladwin to cherish her memory and four lovely daughters: Carol (Gary) Rinko of Warren, Patricia (John Guyer) Judson of Lake, Jeanette Tew of Sterling Heights and Christine (Don) Powers of Riley Twp. Her children blessed her with 16 beautiful grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. Her memory will live on in the hearts of her sisters: Elizabeth Fitzgerald of Gladwin and Kathleen (Peter) Spitz of Florida. She is preceded in death by her parents; three daughters Lorie, Virginia and Ann, son Jon, two grandchildren Bryan Turski and Denise Tew; brother Kenneth Edwards.
Funeral Services were conducted by Pastor James Krach on Friday, Oct. 30, 2015, 11 a.m., with visitation beginning at 10 a.m. at Our Savior Lutheran Church, Gladwin, MI. The family received friends on Thursday, Oct. 29, 2015 from 3-8 p.m. at Hall-Kokotovich Funeral Home, Gladwin, MI.
