Terry Evon Clore
Terry Evon Clore, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on November 25, 2024, at Reed City Field Assisted Living. Born on December 15, 1954, in Midland, Michigan, Terry was the daughter of the late Gordon and Rena (Nettleton) Switzer. Her life was a tapestry of love, laughter, and dedication to her family and community.
Terry’s journey began when she married her soulmate, Charles R. Clore Jr., on February 10, 1973, at the Gladwin First United Methodist Church. Their love story spanned 46 years until Charles preceded her in death on June 20, 2019.
Together, they raised three daughters: Kelli (Bryan) Cassiday, Lyndsay (Skip) Schipper, and Brandi (Tony) Johnson, who were the center of Terry’s world.
She was a devoted mother and an even more doting grandmother to her eight grandchildren: Brooke, Eric, Kyle, Jacob, Taylor, Mason, Blake, and Brady; and her two great-grandchildren: Theo and Elodie. She is also survived by her brother, Randolph Switzer; sister, Becky (Don) Christy; and stepmother, Maxine Switzer.
Terry’s family was her pride and joy, and she cherished every moment spent with them.
A graduate of Gladwin High School, Terry was a woman of many talents. For 23 years, she was the proud owner of Ter-Re Services, where she showcased her skills as a self-employed painter. Her work ethic and creativity left a lasting impression on all who knew her. Terry and Charlie were deeply involved with their church, where they formed lifelong friendships that were a source of strength and happiness throughout their lives.
Terry’s interests were as vibrant and diverse as her personality. She loved attending her grandchildren’s events, supporting them in every endeavor. Gardening was a passion, and her flower beds were a testament to her love for beauty and growth.
Terry had a knack for finding treasures in antique stores, and she enjoyed the thrill of a good bargain.
Her competitive spirit came alive during a mean game of marbles, and she could outpace anyone in a fast walk.
Terry was an avid reader, often found with a tall stack of books by her side, and she could never resist the comfort of pancakes.
Terry’s sense of humor and infectious smile were legendary. She had the unique ability to light up a room and make everyone feel welcome. Her faith-filled spirit guided her through life, and her creative soul found joy in the simple pleasures of the world. Terry was funny, not just in her wit, but in her capacity to find humor in everyday situations, bringing laughter and lightness to those around her.
Preceding Terry in death were her sister, Sondie Lee; brothers-in-law’s: Charlie Lee and Ray Weathers; nephew, Lance Corporal Peter Clore; great-grandson, Ashton Hurley; and in-laws, Charles (Mary) Clore Sr., Terry Evon Clore lived a life filled with love, laughter, and service to others. Her memory will be cherished and kept alive in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her. As we say goodbye to this remarkable woman, we celebrate the indelible mark she left on the world and the countless lives she touched with her warmth and kindness.
