Ruey “Woody” E. Wood Jr., age 89, of Harrison, MI, passed away May 23, 2024 surrounded by his family after a short illness.
He was born on December 12, 1934 to Ruey and Helen (Warren) Wood in Mount Clemens, Michigan. After Ruey graduated from high school, he attended Highland Park Community College and Chrysler Engineering School. He was a proud member of the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), having 29 patents for various automotive innovations.
On December 5, 1979, Ruey married Stephanie (Post) where they later moved to Harrison/Meredith to mark the beginning of a new chapter, one filled with the joys of community engagement and the pursuit of personal passions. Together they enjoyed many years of adventure traveling throughout the world.
Woody’s interests were as diverse as they were engaging. A master of woodworking, he took pride in building furniture of various designs and uses, each piece a reflection of his meticulous craftsmanship. His love for the outdoors was evident in his enthusiasm for snowmobiling, a hobby he pursued well into his late 80s. Woody’s adventurous spirit was matched only by his handy nature, which served him well in both his professional and personal endeavors.
An active member of the Gladwin Moose Lodge, Woody found camaraderie and purpose in service to others. His involvement in the lodge was not just a pastime but a way of connecting with his community and forging lasting friendships. Those who knew him will remember his loving nature, always ready with a kind word or a helping hand. He enjoyed hosting many Karaoke events at the Moose over the years.
Ruey is survived by his loving wife, Stephanie; brother, Ronald Wood Sr.; son, Kenneth (Joan) Wood; stepsons: John (Megan) Argyelan, James (Christine) Argyelan, and Eric Argyelan; grandchildren: Tyler (Madison) Wood, Alyssa Wood (Donald Moran), Jacob Argyelan (Mackenzie Shaw), Sam Argyelan (Allie); and great-granddaughter, Avery Wood, who brought him great joy.
As we bid farewell to Ruey “Woody” E. Wood, Jr., we celebrate a life that touched so many. He was a devoted husband, a loving father and grandfather, a brilliant engineer, and a cherished friend. His memory will live on in the stories shared, the lessons taught, and the love he gave so freely.
A celebration of life, including a luncheon will be held at the Gladwin Moose Lodge on Saturday, June 8, 2024 at 12 p.m.
