Ronald James Vasich

It is with deep sorrow and profound love that we announce the passing of Ronald James Vasich, March 17, 1944 to Sept. 12, 2025, a devoted husband, cherished father, proud grandfather, and beloved friend to many. Ron departed this life peacefully, surrounded by family, leaving behind a legacy defined by service, laughter, and unwavering dedication to those around him.

Born with a spirit of adventure and a heart committed to service, Ron proudly served in the United States Navy, where he cultivated a lifelong love of country, camaraderie, and purpose. Following his military service, he continued to serve by working in the defense industry, applying his skills and dedication to projects that safeguarded and advanced the nation he held so dearly.

Ron’s commitment to service extended far beyond his professional life. His years of leadership in the Boy Scouts exemplified his devotion to mentoring young people – guiding them with wisdom, patience, and a deep appreciation for the natural world. To Ron, the wilderness was more than a place to explore; it was a sacred space where character was shaped, resilience was tested, and lifelong friendships were formed.

After settling in Harrison, Michigan twenty years ago, Ron quickly became a proud and active member of both the Harrison Sportsman’s Club and the Birch Hills Sportsman’s Club, serving on the board of directors for each. His involvement was hands-on and heartfelt – he found joy and purpose in organizing community events, mentoring young outdoor enthusiasts, and sharing stories around the campfire. These moments reflected his enduring love for nature, fellowship, and the strength of community.

Ron’s passion for civic engagement was equally strong. He was involved in his church and local community, always ready to lend a helping hand or lead the next volunteer effort. He served with integrity on the county elections board, helping to uphold the democratic process with fairness and care. He also found joy in playing the clarinet with the community band, where his presence added warmth and camaraderie to every performance.

Above all, Ron was a devoted family man – the steady hand and loving heart behind every moment of comfort and encouragement. He offered quiet support when it was needed most, anchoring his family with strength, compassion, and unwavering love. His greatest goal in life was to provide more for his family than he had himself, ensuring his children were surrounded by opportunity, guidance, and love. He worked tirelessly to build a foundation of stability and values that will continue to shape generations to come.

Though he recently lost his beloved wife, Jacqueline, Ron’s love lives on in the hearts of his children and grandchildren, each of whom carries forward his stories, his strength, and the devotion that defined his life.

Ron’s life was a tapestry of service, friendship, and joy – and though he is no longer with us, the impact he made will continue to resonate in the lives of all who knew him.

A visitation and memorial service will be held on Saturday, Sept. 27, 2025, at St. Luke Lutheran Church (616 S. Fourth St, Harrison, MI 48625). Visitation will begin at 10 a.m., followed by the service at 11 a.m., with a luncheon immediately after.

Later in the day, a Celebration of Life will take place at the Harrison Sportsman’s Club (3704 N. Harrison Ave., Harrison, MI 48625), from 2-4 p.m.
