Lester “LeRoy” Schuler
Lester “LeRoy” Schuler, 89, passed away peacefully on Dec. 7, 2025 at the Horizon VI in Gladwin, surrounded by his family. He was born at home on August 26, 1936, the son of Lester and Bessie (Blake) Schuler, in Gladwin. He spent nearly his entire life in Gladwin County.
On October 3, 1959, LeRoy married Judith Ann Alberts, in Marion, Michigan. Just one month later, he was drafted into the United States Army, where he served honorably and was stationed at Schofield Barracks as an ammunition specialist in Hawaii. LeRoy was immensely proud of his military service and those that still serve.
Following his discharge, LeRoy lived in Flint, working at AC Spark Plug before returning to Gladwin. After moving back, he worked on several major area freeway projects and worked on the development of the lakes in Sugar Springs, before beginning a long career as a logger, a trade he continued until his retirement.
An avid outdoorsman, LeRoy enjoyed hunting, fishing, and trips to the casino. His greatest joy came from supporting his grandchildren and greatgrandchildren in sports. He was a familiar and beloved face at countless sporting events, known by many throughout the community.
LeRoy is survived by his daughters: Melanie Schuler of Gladwin, Dianna Hatch of Royal Oak, and Sandy (Donnie) Corlew of Gladwin; son, Carl (Erin) Schuler of Houghton Lake. He leaves behind 10 grandchildren: Gina, Duck, Anthony, Denise, Ashleigh, Jasmyne, Jaclyn, Alex, Suthern, and Mersadies; 17 great-grandchildren; two great-greatgrandchildren; sisters: Patrecia (Chuck) Pollington, Sherley McCummings, and June Cavendar; as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Bessie; wife, Judy: sister, Betty Smith; and brothers: Chet and Terry Schuler LeRoy will be remembered for the stories he told, his work in the woods, and the pride he took in his family. His presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Funeral Services will take place on Friday, Dec. 12, 2025 at 11 a.m. at Hall-Kokotovich Funeral Home in Gladwin. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Visitation will also be held on Thursday, Dec. 11, 2025 from 3-7 p.m. at Hall-Kokotovich Funeral Home in Gladwin. He will be laid to rest at Butman Township Cemetery.
