Kathleen “Kathy” O’Rourke, age 81, of Gladwin, passed away on Monday, October 28, 2024, while living with her daughter Kelly (Bill) Burkhart in Myrtle Beach, SC. She was born on January 23, 1943 to Joseph and Albina Partyka and married the love of her life John “Jack” O’Rourke on July 18, 1964. Together they shared 48 wonderful years prior to Jack’s death in 2012.
Kathy worked as a medical transcriptionist at the Gladwin hospital until her retirement in 1999. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, shopping trips, reading, playing cards, movies and an occasional trip to the casino. She especially enjoyed being “Nana” and spending time with her two grandsons, her granddaughter, and her great grandson.
She is survived by her two children: Kelly (Bill) Burkhart of Myrtle Beach, SC and Keith O’Rourke of Ludington; grandchildren: Kevin (Chelsea) Burkhart and Kyle Burkhart of Myrtle Beach, SC, and Abby O’Rourke of Ludington; great-grandson, Eli Burkhart of Myrtle Beach, SC. She is preceded in death by her parents, five brothers, and one sister.
The family will hold a private memorial at a later date.
In her final days, Kathy’s hospice nurse and team gave great comfort to her and her family. If you would like to remember Kathy, a donation can be made in her name to The Gentiva Foundation/ Heartland Hospice, Myrtle Beach.
