Katherine Elizabeth Wheeler, 86, of Gladwin, Michigan, passed away at MidMichigan Gladwin Pines Nursing Home on Saturday, Oct. 24, 2015. She was born in Gladwin on Aug. 10, 1929, the daughter of Marvin William and Doris Marie (Parker) Porter.
In 1949, she was united in marriage to the love of her life, Harley Wheeler Sr., in Gladwin. He predeceased her in 1971.
She was a lifetime resident of Gladwin County, and she was employed with LAKA Products of Gladwin.
She leaves her two sons to cherish her memory, Kenneth (Janet) Wheeler of Gladwin, and Harley Wheeler Jr. of Gladwin.
Her children blessed her with six beautiful grandchildren, Corey, Curt, Keith, Amy, Beth and Casey; 14 great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
She is also survived by her brother, Ronald Charles Porter of Gladwin; sisters, Shirley Ann Clayton of Gladwin, and Carolyn Marie Clore of Gladwin; brothers, Roger LeRoy Porter of Gladwin, and Larry Marvin Porter of Owosso; sister, Michelle Kaye McAulay of Gladwin; and brother, Charles Freeman Porter.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, David Wheeler; daughter, Patty Wheeler; brother, Marvin Porter Jr.; brothers, Loyd, Richard. James, and Gerald Porter; and a sister, Inez Irene Walton.
Funeral services will be conducted by Pastor Chris Hale on Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2015, at 11 a.m. at Hall-Kokotovich Funeral Home in Gladwin. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2015 from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest at McClure Cemetery in Gladwin.
