Born on February 12, 1959, in Midland, Michigan, she was the cherished daughter of the late Zack and Beverly (Boyer) Rise. Joann’s warmth, friendliness, and loving nature touched all who knew her throughout her life.
Joann’s journey began in the town where she was born, a place that would always hold a special place in her heart. She grew up alongside her siblings, forming an unbreakable bond that would last a lifetime.
Joann’s family expanded to include her beloved son, Joshua Hodges, who was the light of her life. Her siblings: Brian (Bridget) Rise, Douglas (Jan) Rise, Myk (Kate) Rise, and Janice (Ken) Bingaman, along with her eight nieces and nephews, will forever cherish the memories they shared with her.
A proud graduate of Baker College, Joann earned a degree in computer programming, showcasing her intelligence and dedication to her studies. Her career path, however, took a turn towards entrepreneurship as she became self-employed in domestic cleaning. Joann’s industrious spirit and attention to detail were evident in her work, earning her the respect and admiration of her clients. Later, she dedicated 10 years of service to the Ketenun Center in Tustin, where her contributions were greatly valued.
Joann’s interests were as vibrant and diverse as her personality. She had a passion for fishing, often spending quiet mornings by the water, waiting for the next big catch. Her love for gardening was evident in the beautiful blooms that surrounded her home, a testament to her nurturing spirit. Joann’s ability to cultivate life extended beyond plants to the relationships she nurtured with her family and a wide circle of friends.
Her home was a hub of laughter and camaraderie, where all were welcome.
