Frances Josephine Storms

Frances Josephine Storms, a beacon of intelligence, gentleness, and faith, passed away peacefully on June 11, 2024, in Gladwin, Michigan. Born on August 27, 1933, in Brooklyn, New York, to the late John and Emily (Barton) Bell, Frances grew to embody the warmth and resilience of her beloved hometown.

Frances’s life was marked by her unwavering dedication to her family, her career, and her community. She was the loving mother of Mark, Gary, and Paul Storms and cherish numerous grandchildren. Frances was preceded in death by her daughter, Beth Anne DuBay, and her devoted husband, Kenneth Storms, who passed away on December 11, 1994 and siblings: John, Edna, Emily, Ellen, Dorothy, Alice, Harriet, William, and Edward Bell, all of whom shared in the rich tapestry of her life.

Her professional journey was a testament to her strong work ethic and leadership skills. Frances was a valued employee at Browns Industries and Gladwin Nursing & Rehab.

She retired from her role as Administrator at Gladwin Pines, leaving behind a legacy of compassion and excellence in healthcare management. Even in retirement, Frances continued to serve her community as a volunteer driver for the Gladwin Council on Aging, helping others with the same generosity that she had always shown.

Frances’s interests were as diverse as they were passionate. She was an avid gardener, finding joy in the beauty and tranquility of nature. Her love for exploration led her to countless yard sales across the area, where she delighted in discovering hidden treasures.

Frances was also the family historian, meticulously tracing the genealogy of the Bell family and preserving their stories for future generations. Her frequent trips to New York to visit her loving nieces and nephews were among the highlights of her year, as she cherished these moments of family connection.

Those who knew Frances will remember her for the words that best describe her: intelligent, gentle, and faith-filled. She approached every challenge with a thoughtful mind and every person with a gentle heart.

Her faith was the cornerstone of her life, guiding her actions and giving her strength. Funeral services were held Saturday, June 22, 2024, at 4 p.m., from the Lee-Ramsay-Gladwin Chapel. Family greeted friends from 12 p.m. until time of services.
