Bertha Louise Fry, age 78, of rural Harrison passed away Thursday, Oct. 22, 2015 at her home. Bertha was born May 16, 1937 in Lansing, MI, the daughter of Alfred William and Martha O. (Krueger) Lange. On July 2, 1955 in Lansing, Bertha was united in marriage to Mr. Charles Perry Fry.
Mrs. Fry enjoyed working on puzzles, enjoying the flowers Charles planted for her, watching game shows, as well as knitting mittens and hats for her children, grandchildren, and many more for needy children each Christmas. Bertha enjoyed reading and sharing books with others, as well as spending time with Charles watching Polka dancing and listening to gospel and country music and watching Hallmark movies.
Surviving Bertha is her loving husband of sixty years, Mr. Charles Perry Fry of Harrison, one sister, Lois Budd of Lansing, four daughters: Kathy Ann Dennis and husband Paul of Boscobel, WI, Brenda Sherman of Gladwin, MI, Cindy Wilber and husband Dan of Marion, MI and Dianne Wasilchenko and husband Dwight of Newaygo, MI, one son, Howard Fry and wife Deb of Harrison, MI, 17 grandchildren: Vicky Karr, Alex (Traci) Sniff, Charles Sniff, Elizabeth (Wess) Brownlee, Marty (Deb) Sherman, Laura (Chris) Inman, Dawn Sherman, Teresa (Jeff) Stachowiak, Tanya (Joe) Davidson, Danny (Cathy) Wilber, Rachel (Tim) Davis, Dylan (Kati) Fry, Jared (Abbie) Fry, Marie (Matt) Raymond, Donald Bay, Jamie Wasilchenko and Jake Wasilchenko, three sisters-in-law: Gwen Lange of DeWitt, MI, Doris Comer of DeWitt and Carol Fry of Rochester, WA. Mrs. Fry was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers: Robert Lange, Alfred Lange and Frederick Lange and one brother-in-law, Marion Fry.
Celebration of Life memorial services for Mrs. Fry will be held Saturday, Nov. 7, 2015 at 11 a.m. at the Hamilton Mennonite Church, on Rogers Road at the corner of E. Stockwell and Rogers Roads, Harrison. A dinner will be held after the memorial at the Mennonite Church. The family will be making donations to the Hamilton Mennonite Church as well as the Shriner’s Children’s Hospital in Bertha’s Honor. If you would like to make a donation to one of these organizations along with the family in Bertha’s name, donations will be accepted at the memorial.
