GLADWIN COUNTY – The Gladwin County Community Foundation (GCCF) is gathering information from community partners, organizations, and individuals to best understand the needs and how to help Gladwin County during this unprecedented time. In response, GCCF has established a new fund; the COVID-19 Response Fund. The Community Foundation is in contact with various non-profit organizations to help assess and monitor the needs in Gladwin County so that support can be initiated.
“The Gladwin County Community Foundation is committed to serving individuals and organizations affected by COVID-19 in the Gladwin community,” said Pamela Cingano, Vice Chair of the Gladwin County Community Foundation. “We are happy to make an impact on the livelihood of our neighbors in need.”
In addition, recently the Gladwin County Community Foundation gave $10,000 in grant funds to the Michigan Small Business Relief Program through the Gladwin County Economic Development Corporation. The funding was allotted to assist with small business grants to businesses located within Gladwin County.
“There are still a lot of unknowns with COVID-19,” said Cingano. “What we do know is that GCCF will be there to support Gladwin County.”
If you are interested in making a contribution to the COVID-19 Response Fund, you can do so by accessing gladwinfoundation.org and selecting the giving tab at the top of the page. Make sure you list COVID-19 Response Fund in the fund name and if you prefer to give to support non-profits or small businesses, please list your preference in the “notes” section. According to the GCCF website, the essence of a community foundation is many people putting their money together to address the diverse needs where they live. Gifts enable people to dream bigger, to see the countless possibilities. As money is endowed, the gifts grow forever, providing ongoing support to help the community prosper.
Community foundations reflect and support donors’ wide array of interest and help them address all aspects of community need including arts and culture, economic development, education, environment, health, human services, and recreation.
The Gladwin County Community Foundation provides grants for non-profit organizations as well as student scholarships and local community projects. The foundation is concerned about the community as a whole and supports a wide variety of community programs.
Starting in 2015, the Gladwin County Community Foundation became an affiliate of the Midland Area Community Foundation. They are a public charity serving thousands of people who share a common concern to improve the quality of life in Gladwin County.
