GLADWIN – The home of Chuck and Robyn Norris made a lovely locale for the Gladwin County Republican Party Steak Fry event held Saturday, Sept. 12.
Gladwin County Republican Party Chair Linda Birgel introduced elected officials as well as candidates for offices in upcoming elections.
As guests dined on delicious steak from Lambert’s Meat Market, with all the fixings (including Ms. Darlene Conner’s amazing baked beans), special guests and GOP leaders Kathy Berden and Ronna Romney McDaniel spoke regarding current issues facing our state and country.
Ronna, who is the granddaughter of former Michigan Governor George and Lenore Romney, is the current Michigan Republican Party Chair. She comes from a grand multi-generational tradition of political involvement. Besides her grandfather, her mother also ran for Senate; and her uncle, Mitt Romney, ran for President of the United States.
She is the mother of two children and is married to Patrick. As she described her transition from stay at home mother to GOP Chair, she credited her husband with having an immense amount of support, which allows her to lead the party.
Also present at the dinner was Republican National Committeewoman Kathy Berden. Kathy replaced Ronna when Ronna took over as party chair.
Kathy hails from Snover, where she lives with her husband. They have four children and 10 grandchildren. Kathy’s personable demeanor and wonderful sense of attitude was a bright spot during the evening.
It is evident that the Republican Party is in good hands.
Following her speech, Ronna opened the floor up to questions from guests, and answered them.
The winners of the silent auction were then announced. Winning bids for punch cards to the Sugar Springs Fitness Center included Terry and Lynn Peden; and Jim Beecher.
It was also announced that the Gladwin County Lincoln Day Dinner will be held April 24, 2016.
