FARWELL – Mid Michigan Community Action Agency (Mid Michigan CAA) is in the second year of providing employment support services for veterans.
The program, funded by the Department of Labor, Veterans’ Employment and Training Services, allows the agency to provide veteran families with employment and job training resources, in addition to housing assistance. It has also fostered valuable partnerships with Michigan Works! to ensure that veterans who are re-entering the civilian workforce have access to job training and placement services.
“This grant will allow us to work with veterans to find jobs that are in demand, have growth potential and pay a living wage. It is an honor to serve those who have served our country,” said Eva Rohlman, Outreach Services Director.
Mid Michigan Community Action is also a grantee of the Department of Veteran Affairs for the Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF) program, which provides homeless prevention and rapid re-housing for veteran families who are homeless or in danger of becoming homeless. Dedicated staff work with veterans over the course of six to twelve months to help stabilize their housing and employment.
Mid Michigan CAA has an assigned Veteran Specialist for each Michigan Works! region in the local service area. For more employment resource information, contact Thomas Hardy at 989-418-6360 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
