This year’s Memorial Day commemoration in Beaverton provides a special opportunity to honor the service and sacrifice of those who have born the greatest cost of our national security. The American Legion post 171 has received commitments for matching grants from two donors to establish a permanent fund for the maintenance, improvement and preservation of Beaverton’s “Survivor” monument.
The grants will match the first $1,000 in donations made between now and July 4 to the American Legion Post 171 for the purpose of establishing the fund in the Gladwin Area Community Foundation. Those looking to donate should make checks payable to: American Legion Post 171, and noted as “Beaverton Memorial.”
Donations may be given directly to treasurer Rich Roehrs after the Memorial Day commemoration at Beaverton, or mailed to him at 3424 N. Branch Rd., Beaverton, MI 48612.
