GLADWIN COUNTY – An Edenville man has been charged in 80th District Court following in incident that occurred Sept. 25 in Tobacco Township.
According to Gladwin County Sheriff Department reports, deputies were dispatched to a driveway to Boyce Hydro, LLC on M-30 around 1:40 a.m., after a caller advised that the windows were broken out of his vehicle while parked along M-30.
Upon arrival, deputies found the vehicle parked in the driveway to Boyce Hydro, which has a locked gate and is posted as “No Parking.” The victim said that he had been parked there while fishing with friends since around 11:30 p.m.
Deputies say that both driver side windows were broken out on the vehicle, as well as the windshield and the front passenger side window.
‘The estimated damage to the victim’s vehicle was $4,434.15.
According to the police report, deputies observed several footprints next to the vehicle in the sand, and reportedly identified one that was believed to belong to someone other than the victim and his friends.
After investigating further, deputies located a suspect whose shoes, according to the report, matched the tracks found next to the victim’s vehicle. Deputies confiscated the shoes. They also located and photographed a chain located in the bed of the suspect’s vehicle.
According to the police report, the suspect claimed that he was not responsible for the crime. He was later charged in connection with the incident.
Lee Worthington Mueller, 65, was charged with one count of MDOP Over $1000/Under $20,000; and one count of Lying to a Peace Officer. He was arraigned on Oct. 15, during which time he stood mute. Bond was set at $5000/Cash Surety/10 percent.
Mueller is set for Preliminary Exam in 80th District Court on Oct. 28 at 9:30 a.m.
