Do you love cornhole? Have you been waiting more than a year to get together with other to throw some bags? Here is your chance to have some fun cornhole competition in Gladwin! A cornhole tournament is being held on June 26, 2021 as a fundraiser for Gladwin County American Legion Auxiliary Unit 171. Check in for participants is noon, and bags fly at 1 p.m.
Pay-outs of prizes depend on the number of teams, so share this event with friends and family! Pre-register today to guarantee your spot in the tournament. This tournament has a cap due to limited space and time frame, so do not miss out on your chance to compete.
The auxiliary has partnered with Michigan Cornhole to plan this event. It will be held at The American Legion Post located at 809 Anchor Street, Gladwin. There are two levels of competition, social and competitive. To participate, the social division is $50 per two-person team, and the competitive division is $60 per two-person team. The event will have on-site food, drink, 50/50 drawings, and a silent auction. There is no age limit to participate. Everyone should plan to bring their own lawn chairs and canopies or umbrellas. Spectators are welcome!
The tournament format depends on the number of teams participating but it will be at least double elimination, single game bracket. You must bring your own partner. You may bring your own bags or use tournament provided bags. More details are available on the Facebook page, “Gladwin County American Legion Auxiliary Unit 171.” Click on “events” and then click on “cornhole tournament.”
You may pre-register and pay on the Facebook page through PayPal. Be sure to include your team member names and which division you will be participating in with your payment. If you do not have PayPal, and want to pre-register a team, contact Diana Mella by email at firstname.lastname@example.org or by calling 989-640-0109. Deadline to pre-register is June 6; so now is the time to sign up.
One special moment during the day will be when Unit 171 takes a moment to celebrate the 100th birthday of the American Legion Auxiliary, which was planned for the summer of 2020 but was delayed because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Come out and support a great cause while having a fun day. Proceeds benefit the Gladwin County American Legion Auxiliary Unit 171 and will be used for supporting veterans, the community, and the youth. The Auxiliary can’t wait to see everyone out there on the boards!
