GLADWIN – Things are up in the air at Gladwin City Hall, as City Manager Chris Shannon is waiting to hear if his contract with the city will be accepted with his requested raise of $6,000 per year.
Shannon was hired with a one year contract in December 2018, with a salary of $65,000. His proposed salary increase would put him at the same pay level as former City Manager Bob Moffit, who had been with the city for 13 years.
The City Council went into executive session to discuss the matter during the council meeting on Monday, Jan. 6. No official decision was made. “It’s ongoing,” Shannon said, going on to say, “I think overall the council wants to keep me here and we’re working towards it.”
Shannon is also interviewing for the City Manager Position in Vassar, MI, stating that though he isn’t wanting to leave, he is looking at what the best options are for he and his family as there is currently uncertainty in Gladwin.
The decision will be discussed and brought to a future city council meeting for finalization.
