GLADWIN COUNTY – Gladwin City County Transit held their 2019 Local Roadeo on Friday, June 21. Transit agencies State wide compete locally to determine who goes to the Regional Roadeo, then onto State, and finally to the National Roadeo. These roadeos are designed with safety and training in mind while keeping their driving skills sharp.
This year was special; State Representative Jason Wentworth presented tributes to Deanna Hughes, Roberta Keast, and Harold Smith for their continued success in winning Roadeos. Jason expressed his appreciation to each of them, and their fellow drivers in attendance, for their commitment to Gladwin Community and the importance of what they do for Public Transportation.
Executive Director of the Michigan Public Transit Association, Clark Harder, was in attendance to present Jason with a Friends of Transit award. Jason knows the value of public transportation in our rural communities. From students that can’t get picked up by the yellow bus, to dialysis, non-emergency medical transportation, getting to work or simply getting groceries, Jason has seen first-hand the true value in Public Transportation.
