Consumers Energy has recently named Bob Balzer as the new Community Affairs Manager for Midland, Isabella, Clare, Gladwin and Arenac counties.

“We are excited to welcome such an experienced leader with strong community knowledge already established in the five counties he will represent as a community advocate and facilitator for Consumers Energy,” said Josh Burgett, Consumers Energy’s executive director of community engagement. “In his new role, Bob’s partnership building and communication skills will help drive our mission to cultivate trusted relationships within our company and communities.”         

Before joining Consumers Energy, Balzer was the director of business and economic development for the Gladwin County Economic Development Corporation and Michigan Works! Region 7B. He also worked as a branch manager/vice president in the banking industry and owned his own business, Signature Signs/AC Graphics.

Balzer began his position at Consumers Energy on Monday, November 22 and is based in the Midland Service Center. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Central Michigan University.

Consumers Energy, Michigan’s largest energy provider, is the principal subsidiary of CMS Energy, providing natural gas and/or electricity to 6.8 million of the state’s 10 million residents in all 68 lower peninsula counties.
