GLADWIN COUNTY – Have we said how thankful we are for all of the amazing taxpayers in Gladwin County? And how thankful we are that they voted to pass our millage? A little over a year ago, with an overwhelming amount of you voting yes, we received our Senior Services Millage. One of our goals, that we made very public, was to: “Purchase newer vehicles to sustain the remaining four of eight Meals on Wheels Routes.”
We have finally been able to purchase a vehicle that will be added to our Antler Arms meal site. Now, all three meal routes that leave our Antler Arms’ meal site will have paid drivers!
This 2019 Ford Escape was purchased from our own, local, Maverick Ford and has four-wheel drive.
We couldn’t even wait to get the lettering done before it went out on the road! One of our amazing volunteers has been added on as a paid driver. With this new vehicle, he will no longer have to use his own personal vehicle to deliver meals Monday through Friday to the home-bound seniors of Gladwin County.
After the vehicle’s first route on Monday, Aug. 26, 2019, S&H Engraving Vinyl Graphics and Custom Embroidery picked up the vehicle to add the same lettering as the two other Escapes in our little fleet.
Again, we couldn’t move forward with our programs if it wasn’t for this millage and the gracious support of our community.
