GLADWIN COUNTY – The Gladwin County Economic Development Corporation (EDC) was recently given a generous donation by Chemical Bank in support of the work that the EDC is doing throughout Gladwin County.
“Chemical Bank leaders have been active members of our EDC program for many years and we are so thankful for the support they offer. Sandy, and many others at Chemical Bank, generously and selflessly give back to our community through financial support and direct involvement in countless community events and organizations” says EDC Director Bob Balzer. Sandy Loomis, new to the EDC board, states that “Chemical Bank is pleased to support the efforts of the Gladwin County Economic Development Corporation. The work being done by the organization and the many resources they provide to our community are vital to the retention, expansion, and business attraction throughout Gladwin County.”
In its recent election of officers, Heath Kaplan, City Manager of Beaverton, was named the EDC President. Scott Govitz, Executive Director for Workforce and Economic Development at Mid Michigan College, is the Vice-President. Also serving as officers are: Secretary Karen Blonde, Program Specialist at the Gladwin City Housing Commission, and Treasurer Joel Vernier, who serves as a Gladwin County Commissioner.
Through the financial support of townships, businesses and individuals in our community, the EDC is able to further its work in enhancing the broadband capabilities in Gladwin County, offer loans to small businesses, provide training and consulting to new and growing companies, provide leadership in the education and training of our youth, assist businesses in finding skilled talent and so much more.
