BEAVERTON – Plans are moving forward to relocate Beaverton City Hall offices, after meeting with potential contractors on Friday, Jan. 10.
The new City Hall will be in the former library building, across the street from the existing City Hall building. The relocation according to City Manager Heath Kaplan has to do with the structure’s age and practicality.
“The current City building is not suitable for today’s needs. The new building will serve all of the community’s needs and provide a new welcome center that will be essential for marketing purposes,” Kaplan said.
Currently the city is reviewing bids for the renovations needed at the library building. One contractor is from Midland, while the other is from Saginaw. The project should not take too long however, “Our goal is to move in by Spring. Final construction should be no later than the end of Spring,” Kaplan said.
