LANSING The Nature Conservancy (TNC) has announced an expansion of its renowned global Photo Contest to include double the number of categories and local prizes for photos taken in Michigan. TNC will begin accepting Photo Contest entries Aug. 30 through Sept. 29 and there is no cost to enter.

GLADWIN COUNTY In the parking lot of Christ the King Lutheran Church, there was another Gladwin/ Beaverton Community Food Distribution (GBCFD) on Saturday, August 19. Almost 22,000 pounds of food from the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan was passed out to about 220 households.

Kids Camp silent auction winner

GLADWIN COUNTY Jan Oldani was the winner of a silent auction that took place during the Kids Camp event at the Gladwin District Library. The event was from August 7 through August 11, and was organized by the Gladwin Artist Guild with assistance from the library staff.
In preparation for the upcoming school year, Maverick Ford car dealership, located at 1435 W. Cedar Ave., held their annual “Back to School School” Supplies Drive. The drive gives students heading into the 2023/2024 school year new pencils, backpacks, and many other things needed in the classroom. “There’s no better investment in our future than with our kids,” the Maverick Ford Facebook page posted about the drive.
