SUGAR SPRINGS The Sugar Springs Stitchers and Quilters host the sixth Gladwin Showcase of Quilts at the Sugar Springs Activity Center, 1930 Sugar River Rd. The show will be open on Saturday, October 14 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and on Sunday, October 15 from noon to 4 p.m.

Bra-La-La fundraiser returns in October

Get the creative juices flowing and break out the glue guns as MyMichigan Health Foundation is bringing back a fun community event, the Bra-La-La bra decorating competition. Last held in 2016, the event raised $19,000 and provided financial assistance for mammograms and breast cancer follow-up care.

Gladwin Rural Urban Fire Department will have an open house on September 30, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The fire house is located at 701 E. Cedar Ave. next to Pizza Hut.

Twelve new financial education book titles will be distributed with five copies going to each Little Free Library every month, totaling 660 financial education books.
