Gladwin Showcase of Quilts slated for Oct. 14-15

SUGAR SPRINGS The Sugar Springs Stitchers and Quilters host the sixth Gladwin Showcase of Quilts at the Sugar Springs Activity Center, 1930 Sugar River Rd. The show will be open on Saturday, October 14 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and on Sunday, October 15 from noon to 4 p.m.

Bra-La-La fundraiser returns in October

Get the creative juices flowing and break out the glue guns as MyMichigan Health Foundation is bringing back a fun community event, the Bra-La-La bra decorating competition. Last held in 2016, the event raised $19,000 and provided financial assistance for mammograms and breast cancer follow-up care.

Except for his years as a student at Central Michigan University, Gladwin resident Ed Falls has spent his adult years volunteering in community bands and orchestras. In fact, at one point he belonged to three groups at one time.

The Gladwin Homecoming Parade will be going through town on Friday, October 6, at 4:30 p.m. The parade will being near the Secretary of State, 675 E. Cedar Ave., in Gladwin and end at the Gladwin High School.
