Mid-Michigan Veterans Benefits Fair July 18

HARRISONOn Thursday, July 18, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Larson Elementary School, located at 455 W. Spruce Street in Harrison, along with the Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency (MVAA) and the Clare County Veterans Services office will hold the second annual Mid-Michigan Veterans Benefits Fair.

Comedy night to benefit D.A.R.E.

GLADWINThe Wiggins Lake Property Owners AssociationTis partnering with Motown Mark Dabiero and Gladwin County Sheriff Michael Shea to benefit the Gladwin County D.A.R.E. Program. The comedy night will be at the Fraternal Order of Eagles, 101 North State Street, Gladwin, on July 26, 7 p.m.

Annual ORV Fun Fest registration available

GLADWINThe 11th annual Gladwin County Orv Fun Fest is slated for August 17, 2024 at the Gladwin Fairgrounds. The event will include a 70 plus mile ride, food, and prizes. The ride will begin with a parade through Gladwin before heading to the trails.

Bisphosphonates cause esophageal disorders to worsen

DEAR DR. ROACH: I’m a 68-year-old female with osteopenia. My doctor wants me to take a bone medication such as Boniva or Fosamax. I’ve read that folks with esophageal issues may be harmed by taking these. Can you explain why? -- C.M.C.
