Gladwin and Beaverton both had railroads, as did other county locations: Rhodes, Estey, Bomanville and Meredith. Even Butman and Sherman Townships had railroad, even before Gladwin and Beaverton. Contrary to some rumors, Gladwin and Beaverton were never connected.

Trail of Two Cities trail official opening and extension ribbon cutting Sept. 5
