GLADWIN COUNTYOn May 19, 2025, one new officer was elected for the Gladwin County Chapter of the Michigan Association of Retired School Personnel (MARSP). Members elected Lynn Skocelas as secretary. Reelected were Pam Sochacki as president and Kevin Brott as treasurer.

GLADWIN COUNTYThe Big Boys Club of Gladwin County will be hosting its 15th annual golf tournament at Gladwin Heights Golf Course on Aug. 2.The organization was formed about 25 years ago as the Wooden Shoe Big Boys.

LANSINGA76-year-old man and 66-year-old woman from Ann Arbor were rescued May 20 after their sailboat ran aground in high winds and rough water on Lake Huron.

Residents urged to take action to prevent tick bites this season

LANSINGThe Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) is encouraging Michigan residents to take steps to avoid tick bites while enjoying the outdoors. Tick-borne diseases, particularly Lyme disease and anaplasmosis, are increasing across the state.
