When to stop hiking with your dog

DEAR PAW’S CORNER: I recently read an article about a hiker who noticed another hiker’s dog limping badly on a backwoods trail. The dog’s paws were a mess, with long nails and pads that were scraped and tender.

Yet the owner said that he and the dog were pressing on to the end of the trail, two days ahead.

Can you please make your readers aware that dogs aren’t as tough as people think they are?
