My grandfather, Donald Ross, was born to Donald Gunn Ross and his wife the former Rebecca Fraser on April 1, 1866 in Thorah Township, Canada, just outside of Beaverton, Rebecca died in 1866 following childbirth and Donald G. was left with seven children to raise, ranging in age from 14 years to 12 days and he needed someone to help look after the children, especially the baby.
