MIDLAND The seats of Midland’s Dow Diamond, baseball stadium to MLB’s (Major League Baseball) minor league affiliation the Great Lake Loons, were painted in blue and red Tuesday night as the Flying G’s of Gladwin outdueled the Beavers of Beaverton 8-2 in varsity baseball action.

Beaverton Varsity Softball split doubleheader to Coleman

COLEMAN The Beaverton Beavers varsity softball team traveled to Coleman on April 10. The Beavers split the doubleheader, losing the first game to the Coleman Comets while winning the second. The Comets shutout Beaverton in the night’s first of two games, defeating the Beavers by a score of 10-0.

Gladwin JV Baseball shutdown the Beavers at Dow Diamond

MIDLAND Dow Diamond, in Midland, opened their doors Tuesday afternoon, April 11, for the Beaverton Beavers and the Gladwin Flying G’s baseball programs. The two JV squads kicked off the event, followed by the varsity squads squaring off. The Gladwin JV boys defeated Beaverton by a score of 13-0.

Gladwin Track and Field shines in several events during Wednesday’s season opener

GLADWIN The Flying G’s opened their Track and Field season last Wednesday, hosting their Gladwin Frozen Feet invite. Seven schools joined Gladwin on the track, participating across 17 events. Field events kicked off at 4 p.m. while the tracking events waited until 5 p.m. to begin.

Gladwin JV Softball drops to 2-2 on the season after losses to Ogemaw

GLADWIN The Ogemaw Heights Falcons visited Gladwin last Wednesday, facing off in girls JV softball. The doubleheader resulted in losses for the Lady G’s, dropping the first game to the Falcons by a score of 9-1 and the second game 14-4. Pitcher Liz Winchester took the loss for Gladwin.

Busy week for Lady G’s Soccer

GLADWIN The Flying G Ladies of soccer were busy last week, hosting games on Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday night. Tuesday, April 11, Gladwin defeated the Shepherd Blue Jays 7-1. The Flying G’s notched another victory Thursday defeating the Standish Panthers 6-2.
