The third Annual Al Crawford Scotch Doubles Bowling Fundraiser, to support the Gladwin Area Friends of the Theatre, will take place on Oct. 29 at Meadow Lanes, 430 W. 5th St. Sign up begins at 1 p.m., and bowling starts at 2 p.m. Cost will be $40.

The Gladwin Intermediate School (GIS) boys cross country team ran this past Saturday morning at Meridian. The boys finished 2nd as a team on the one-mile course and every single runner had a personal record (PR).

BEAVERTON Defense wins championships. It also comes in handy when a team is shooting for its first victory of the season. The Beaverton junior varsity football team headed into Thursday’s home game against Harrison with an 0-5-1 record and pitched a shutout to crack the win column, 22-0.

GLADWIN Add one goal to each side and Wednesday’s rematch between the Gladwin soccer team and visiting Cheboygan looked a lot like the first meeting. The Flying G’s won a road game 5-1 on Sept. 13 and rolled to a 6-2 victory the second time around.
