The Beaverton Tavern is an institution in Beaverton, and with the recent reconstruction, it should remain so for many more decades. This photo, probably taken during prohibition, shows the building in an earlier era, when what became Beaverton Tavern was known as “The Card Room”.

To the Editor: Hello friends. I have a question that I have not been able to find an answer for. About 10 years ago the Gladwin County Sportsmen Club, that was being overseen and remodeled by the Seebeck Family, was asking for donations to help fund the remodel.

In 2021, 5,190 workers died on the job in the U.S.*, including 140 in Michigan. Each day, 14 people suffer work-related deaths. These numbers remind us of the dangers many workers face. Behind these numbers, there are people who mourn each loss.

Beaverton to celebrate Memorial Day May 29

BEAVERTON Plans are now in place for the 2023 Memorial Day commemoration on Monday, May 29. As usual, there will be a parade in Beaverton. Lineup will be at 1 p.m. at the municipal parking lot near the Community Center. The parade will step off at 1:30 p.m.

DEAR DR. ROACH: Due to a slight genetic risk of breast cancer (my Tyrer-Cuzick Model score was 20.6 percent), my doctor wants me to get breast MRIs with contrast annually. I am concerned about long-term exposure to the gadolinium-based contrast dye.
