William (Bill) Dow Platt

William (Bill) Dow Platt passed away peacefully in his home on April 24, 2024.

William was born on June 13, 1946 to the late Donna and Kenneth (Dr.) Platt.

Bill loved spending time with his family, friends and beloved dogs. He was an avid golfer, loved to bird hunt with his dogs, Lilly and Willie, enjoyed fishing, just being in nature. Enjoyed talking to his cronies, especially liked playing pranks!

Likes music, rock hounding, especially looking for Petoskey stones.

Proudly served his country in the Army for two years, and served in Vietnam. He gave many golf lessons, loved volunteering for Hook A Kid On Golf, and the Big Boys Youth Golf program.

After retiring from sheet metal welding for Local #7, he worked hard at Gladwin Heights Golf Course for many years. He is survived by his wife, Debra of 46 years; son, Bradley Platt (Julia); son, Joshua Platt; sister, Diane; grandchildren: Grace, Eliza, Emma, Hudson, Lilly, Brynlea, Noah, Jace, Hensley, Ollie, Trinity, and Malachi; several nieces and nephews; siser-in-law, MaryEllen (Bugg) Sherlock. He was predeceased by his sister, Janet; and several nephews.

There will be a celebration of life at Gladwin Heights Golf Course on May 19, 1 p.m. Pastor Sam Wilson will officiate. In lieu of flowers those planning an expression of sympathy please consider contributions to Big Boys Club of Gladwin County Youth Golf Program.
