Shirley R. Henry, age 86, passed away on Saturday, November 12, 2022 at Brian’s House, Essexville Michigan. She was born in Colliers, West Virginia on January 2, 1936, to the late Blaine and Hilda Ann (Smedley) Pannett. Shirley was raised in a large family, having 10 siblings.
She graduated in Tripoli Libya, in 1955, and was a graduating Class Officer; the Recording Secretary.
She married Richard Henry on September 10, 1955 in Tripoli, Libya on the Wheelers Airforce Base. Richard and Shirley moved back to the states after the service to start a family in Mt. Morris Michigan, later moving to Gladwin, Michigan.
Shirley loved spending time with her family and especially her grandchildren. She retired after 30 years from GM Delphi - AC Spark Plug in Flint, Michigan. She enjoyed watching TV and going to the casino, cooking and watching birds at the bird feeder. One of her favorite things to do was to go dancing, snowmobiling and boating with her husband Richard and family.
Shirley was a member of the Secord Lake Eagles Lady’s Axillary #4121, was involved in the community and has volunteered for several clubs over the years.
Shirley is survived by her son, Jeffery (Melodie) Henry; and daughters, Cindy Henry and Pamela Allen; six grandchildren, Jennifer (Kirk) Vogel, Tony Veselsky, Steven (David Payne) Veselsky, Jaime Henry, Jeffrey Henry and Caitlyn Allen; seven great-grandchildren, AJ Vogel, Ryan Henry, Paige Henry, Chloe Henry, Nevaeh Thomason, Caleb Thomason, Alexis Henry; and four great-great grandchildren, Elijah, Asher, and Gracelynn Vogel and Westin Thompson; brothers, Wayne (Gloria) Pannett, Ray Pannett; and sisters, Louise Mayberry, Elaine Young, Darlene Clup, Bonnie Starkey, Doreen Davenport.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Richard; three brothers, James, Arthur, and Charles Pannett; and a great grandson, Keith Vogel.
Memorial service will be held on Tuesday, November 29, 2022 at 3 p.m. at Rivertown Funeral Chapel, Kawkawlin, Michigan with Pastor John Tousciuk presiding.
Family will great friends from 1 p.m. until the time of service. Inurnment will take place at a later date at Memorial Park Cemetery, Flint, Michigan. In lieu of flowers the family requests a contribution to Brian’s House, 664 W.
