Jean Marie (Sullivan) Smith, age 82, of Houghton Lake, passed away peacefully at home on April 29, 2023.
Jean was born in Prudenville on September 1, 1940 to Austin and Dora (Thomas) Sullivan.
Jean graduated from Gladwin High School in June 1958. On June 21, 1958, in Gladwin, Jean married the love of her life, Theodore (Ted) Smith.
Together they raised three children: son, Paul Smith of Houghton Lake; daughter, Kelly (Norm) DePriester of Onaway; and son, Kirk (Vicky) Smith of Sault Ste.
Marie, Ontario, Canada. Jean had 10 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren and loved them all.
Her passion was quilting.
She made many beautiful things from quilts to purses.
The majority of which she gifted to family and friends.
She was a member of a quilting group where she met and had many dear friends.
She was a member of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Prudenville.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ted of 58 years; a grandson, Theodore James; a great-grandson, Rohen Paul; three sisters, DeAnn, JoAnn, and Janet; two brothers, David and Ronald.
Funeral services will be conducted by her cousin Tom Sharp on Saturday, May 6, 2023, 2 p.m. at Hall-Kokotovich Funeral Home, Gladwin. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until the time of service. www.hallkokotovichfuneralhome. com
