Gaylond R. Smith, age 83, of Gladwin, passed away on Sunday, Aug. 17, 2025. He was born on July 8, 1942, the son of Robert and Thelma (Schnaidt) Smith, in Pontiac. On Oct. 4, 1968, he married the love of his life, Marsha Brieden, and together they shared 56 years filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories.
Gaylond was a hard worker and throughout his life had many jobs. He worked at Pontiac Motors, was employed as a truck driver for White Owl which became Mid American, owned and operated the Beaverton Party Store for many years, and was also employed at Graff until his retirement.
Gaylond was an outdoorsman, often spending his time hunting, cruising on the pontoon, and golfing. He enjoyed bowling and hanging out with his friends.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Marsha; son, Gaylond R. (Lynn) Smith; daughter, Susan “Deb”

Smith; son, Ronnie (Kelly) Smith; grandchildren: Sianne, Robert, LJ, Casey, Justin, James, and Travis; along with six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents; son, John; along with several extended family members.
Honoring his wishes, cremation has taken place and a celebration of life is being planned at a later date.
