Bonnie Kay Martis
Bonnie Kay Martis (Cassiday), age 83, passed away peacefully on Aug. 12, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones at her home in Midland, Michigan. Born on Aug. 15, 1941, in Gladwin, Michigan, Bonnie lived a life marked by deep devotion to her family and a generous spirit that touched all who knew her.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Gary Martis; her son, Gary Lee Martis; and her siblings: Ed Cassiday, Darwin Cassiday, Jerry Cassiday, and Bob Cassiday; along with her sister-in-laws: Luannn Cassiday, Betty Cassiday, Ruth Ann Cassiday; and brother-in-law, Jim Porter.
She is survived by Glenn Williams, her longtime honey; her children: Evett Lynn (James) Marshall, Tony (Alice) Martis, and Troy Martis; along with her siblings: Duane Cassiday, Rushell (Cassiday) Porter, and Dana (Deb) Cassiday; and her sister-in-laws: Janet Cassiday and Linda Cassiday. Bonnie also leaves behind many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren who will carry forward the warmth of her love and the strength of her legacy.
A woman of remarkable resilience and compassion, Bonnie was known for the sacrifices she made to raise her children. Her unwavering support for her son Gary Lee – whom she adored and encouraged throughout his life – was a testament to the depth of her maternal love. She took immense pride in doting on all of her grandchildren and nieces and nephews and found joy in every moment spent with them.
Bonnie cherished time with family above all else.
She especially enjoyed quading adventures with loved ones in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula – a place close to her heart – and treasured the home she kept in Naubinway. Whether playing Yahtzee with her daughter, Evett Lynn, and daughterin- law, Mary, or trying her luck at the slot machines in Manistique and Mount Pleasant casinos, Bonnie embraced life’s simple pleasures with enthusiasm.
Her generous heart left an indelible mark on those around her. She gave freely of herself to ensure the happiness and well-being of others – a legacy that lives on through the many lives she touched.
May Bonnie’s memory bring comfort to those who knew and loved her. A Celebration of Life will be held on Aug. 30, 2025, at 11 a.m. at Auburn Hotel and Tavern, 101 W. Midland Road, Auburn, MI.
