Noise, smoke (and a few raindrops) filled the air Saturday when Thunder on the Strip drag racing returned to the airport. Among the drivers was “Jimmy The Greek” from St. Helen’s (inset) who regularly brings his bright orange Ford Pinto wagon to burn up the track and remind us all of the glory years of Jimmy Carter’s presidency.
GLADWIN
The engines have cooled, but the excitement still lingers – Thunder on the Strip has once again delivered an unforgettable day of drag racing at the Gladwin Zettel Memorial Airport!
Celebrated twice a year in May and September, this high-octane event has entered its 16th year, continuing a tradition that’s become a favorite for racers and fans across Michigan.
