A 125 years ago, an active community called Smith’s Creek existed at the corner of Bard and Sullivan Roads in Sage Township, a mile north of today’s M-61. Besides the school that still stands on that corner, now a private home, there was a church that stood kitty-corner from that school.

GLADWINThe 35th Annual Great Cedar River Duck Race was held Saturday to benefit Hospice of Gladwin Area.Numbered rubber ducks were dropped into the water from the bridge along Cedar Ave near the Riverwalk Place parking lot and they were carried to the finish line by a brisk current.

LANSING“ There’s bears here?”That was a common response this spring to the first public display of photos of a black bear taken from trail cameras just a half-hour drive from downtown Lansing.

John and Kate Music Ministry will take place at the Wagarville Community Christian Church, 2478 Wagarville Road, on July 20, starting at 9:30 a.m. A luncheon will follow the service.
The family of Lynn and Linda Morgan is delighted to announce their 60th wedding anniversary. They were married on July 17, 1965 in Gladwin at the First United Methodist Church. The couple have three children Jodi (Courtney) Lee of Sanford, Eric (Lanette) Morgan of Gladwin and Jakie (Scott Jiggins) Conahan of Midland. They have been blessed with eight grandchildren and seven greatgrandchildren. May their love story continue to inspire us all.
