$1.3 million awarded to forestry assistance

LANSINGThe Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (MDARD) today announced over $1.3 million in funding for 18 conservation districts as part of the Forestry Assistance Program.

Including the 50 graduates of the 149th Trooper Recruit School, there are approximately 1,145 troopers assigned statewide, and a total of 1,835 enlisted members in the MSP.

In this time of giving thanks, I am so thankful this year for the opportunity to live in Gladwin County, with its many forests, lakes, rivers, and fields, and all the wildlife in those areas. One big bird I’m always excited to see and thankful for is the Wild Turkey.

DAR recognizes Gladwin County seniors

MIDLANDThe John Alden Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution recently honored 10 high school seniors as Good Citizens for 2025.Two were from Gladwin County. A recognition ceremony was held at St.John’s Episcopal Church where each student was awarded a special DAR pin and certificate.
