GLADWIN COUNTY
Skeels Christian School Boys Soccer finished their 2022 regular season with 10 wins, two ties, and only one loss. With skill and determination, the team played hard, many times against larger schools with older and more experienced players. Even against these obstacles, the SCS Eagles ended their regular season ranked number one in the Michigan Association of Christian Schools (MACS).
With a bye for the first round of tournament play, SCS had positioned themselves for going the distance. In the second round, the Eagles took on the Waterford Lakecrest Baptist School. With an easy win of 8-0, they moved on to the third round of semi-final play.
Hosting the third round of play against Oakdale Academy from Waterford proved to be a much harder battle. After losing their goalie to an injury, SCS found themselves going into overtime as the score was tied at 2-2. True grit and strength of each SCS player was needed if they were going to win. The team remained focused, determined, and aggressive as they brought home a 3-2 win.
Heading downstate to take on Fostoria Baptist Academy, the Eagles knew they would be faced with a harder battle than the first two rounds had been. Digging deep, the Eagles went up against a strong, fast opponent in the championship game.
Skeels pulled out everything they had learned and stood strong against the Fostoria team.
Working together, executing the plays they had practiced over and over since August paid off as Skeels won the MAC Division 2 State Championship with a score of 3-0. Congratulations SCS Eagles on an awesome season and a well-deserved championship title!
