GCB

CLARE – Please join the Gateway Community Band (GCB) for a night of fun, friends and great music. The GCB will be performing a pre-Fourth of July concert Friday, June 23, 8 p.m., at the Clare Shamrock Lake Pavilion.

This year’s musical selection is sure to be a crowd pleaser. Those in attendance will be delighted to hear a tribute to one of jazz’s greatest influences Louis Armstrong. Armstrong commonly referred to as “Satchmo” was a famous trumpeter and singer most known for ‘What A Wonderful World’, ‘St. Louis Blues’ and ‘Hello Dolly’. A light hearted symphony of sit-coms is sure to test the minds of those in their chairs.

They are celebrating America’s Independence and no concert is complete without the iconic songs associated with America and the military. A medley of patriotic songs can be heard in The Blue and Grey and Star Spangled Banner. New to this year’s lineup is ‘God Bless the U.S.A.’, made famous by Lee Greenwood. As has become tradition the GCB will honor the men and women who have served our great country both past and present in Salute to America’s Finest culminating in ‘The Stars and Stripes Forever!’

Admission is free however please bring a chair with you as this will be an outdoor concert. For more information on the GCB please visit their website at www.gatewaybands.org or Facebook page.
