GLADWIN – Backpack Buddies is a program through the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan, which provides food for weekend nutrition to K-5 students, who are at risk of hunger.
This program has been operating in Gladwin schools for four years. In Beaverton, the program just completed its third year of operation. One child can be fed each week during the school year for $100. With your help, this program will continue in Gladwin County.
A Fish and Shrimp dinner benefitting Gladwin and Beaverton’s Backpack Buddies Program will take place July 14, 4-7 p.m., at the Knights of Columbus Hall, located on M-18, just south of M-61.
Cost will be $8 for fish dinners and for an additional $2, get eight shrimp and fish. Carryout is available.
