GLADWIN – Gail Wildfong Dancers performed at their last competition in Walled Lake, MI at Walled Lake Western High School this past April. Competition is tough these weekends with hundreds of dancers coming from over 10 different studios to compete against each other. GWSD came and danced with commitment, energy and passion. Team spirit was high as students helped each other prepare for each dance, cheered each other on before dances, after dances, and then again during awards. We are so proud of every one of them!

Dancers are able to bring an incredible side of art to a stage. As we watched dancers connect to the choreography and music, we saw the stories unfold…sometimes sad, sometimes happy, often both with all that exists between. GWSD dancers brought some fierce Gladwin art to the Walled Lake area the last weekend of April and they received the awards to prove it.

Diamond awards were in the rough for all studios and dancers – and GWSD snagged seven. Diamonds were received by the tap team (along with 1st overall and 5th on the V.I.P. list), junior jazz (along with first overall and the Jazz Division Award), senior lyrical (also receiving 2nd overall), Nicole Pollok, Breanna Mead, Olivia Gutierrez (also receiving 10th overall) and Rhiannon Seiser (also receiving 9th overall and Musical Theater Award.)

Platinum group awards were received by junior jazz (with a 3rd overall), Pom (with 8th overall), junior modern (2nd overall), senior jazz (5th overall), senior hip hop (10th overall), senior modern (7th overall), petite team (4th overall), musical theater (1st overall). Solos and duets in the recreational level that received platinum went to Madisyn Wendling (6th overall), Deanna Pendergraft (9th overall), Shannon Graham (4th overall), Braelynn DeLisle (1st overall), Sadie and Suthern Schuler (also received 1st overall and a judge’s award), Darby McKimmy and Karley Fischer (2nd overall).
