‘Say Yes to the Prom Dress’

Teens and parents check out hundreds of dresses in search of the perfect one. Inset pictures, got a pretty dress that may need repair? Organizers say they have a seamstress available, so don’t hesitate to drop off any and all dresses you would like to donate. There will be displays from local businesses, plenty of prizes to giveaway, and lots of volunteers to help with the shopping!

BEAVERTON – Anyone who’s attended or had their child attend a formal event knows how much those dresses cost – and they’re usually a one-time wear.

But what if you could shop hundreds of dresses and take one home for free? On March 12, you can!

The Beaverton Area Business Association will be sponsoring its fourth ‘Say Yes to the Prom Dress’ event from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Beaverton Activity Center at 106 Tonkin St.

Along with plenty of dresses and accessories, there will also be exhibits from local businesses, as well as prize giveaways.

Organizers say that so far, they have over 500 dresses for teens to choose from. They’re also hoping that people will consider donating that dress that may have only been worn once so that they have even more to choose from.

Although gently worn dresses are preferred, organizers say they have a seamstress who can work wonders with very nice dresses that just need a little fixing up.

If you have a dress that you would like to donate, drop off locations include any Chemical Bank in Beaverton, Gladwin, Harrison, Clare, or Coleman; The Style Studio in Beaverton; and Family Hair Care in Beaverton.
