I once heard a person say, “everybody wants to go to heaven, but nobody wants to die.” Another person said, “everybody wants to lose weight, but nobody wants to eat less.” On a more serious note, “we all want peace and harmony, but nobody wants to repent!” I don’t know anyone who doesn’t want to live a peaceful life in harmony with God and neighbor. Yet, I know a lot of people who are unwilling to examine their thoughts and actions, and make the necessary changes. I also know a lot of people who think that they can do this on their own, without the help of the Holy Spirit.
Some two thousand years ago Jesus, the Son of God, said that he was “the way, the truth, and the life and that no one comes to the Father, except through him.” He invited the people to repent, change from their sinful ways, and follow him. How about you accepting that invitation today? Have you had enough of seeking satisfaction in material things like more money, more stuff, or more property? Are you frustrated in looking for ultimate happiness in human relationships? Have chemical substances or other addictions left you empty and hollow? Have the atheistic teachings of this world left you anxious and depressed? Are you despairing because the world teaches that death is the end of your existence Are you looking for everlasting love? Have you had enough of being disrespected? Are you looking for something eternally satisfying? Are you fed up with the inability of politicians, government, or police to bring about peace and harmony? Repent, learn to walk in the way of love. Your Father in heaven loves you. Jesus, his Son is your sibling, and the Holy Spirit will help you.
How? This prayer is offered by ChristLife, a Catholic ministry, for us to use and use daily to get started. Pray it with me. “Lord God, please forgive me for all the things I have done wrong. I turn to you and turn away from sin (silently ask forgiveness for anything you know is keeping you from God). Jesus, please be the center of my life. I welcome you personally as Lord and Savior of my life. I ask you, Holy Spirit to fill me and empower me to live as a child of God. I want to have your grace to truly live a new life. Thank you for hearing my prayer through Christ our Lord. Amen.” Pray this prayer daily and I promise you that peace and harmony will happen in your life.
“May the Lord bless and keep you. May he let his face shine upon you, and give you his peace.”
